It’s always a good choice to use a taxi if you don’t want to use public transportation. If you decide to take a taxi, please take a quick look at our recommendations.
- Before taking a taxi, search the route, check how far is your destination, how much it will cost etc. through taxi stations, websites or mobile applications.
- You can use your smart phones to view the route ( my favourite is YANDEX NAVI ) and then you can show it to the taxi driver. You can use the mobile app TAKSİMETRE to calculate the route and the fare as well.
Be careful when paying the taxi fare especially if you will use 50₺! Watch out for 5₺ and 50₺, they are so similar! Unfortunately a few of the drivers might trick you by changing the banknotes. The best solution is to make sure that you have some change and coins with you, it always helps.
- Always go for the taximeter! Some drivers might offer you a fixed price, start bargaining or use the traffic as an excuse, that in heavy traffic the final fare will go up (that’s true). Don’t accept those offers! Their price will be higher for sure. Make sure the driver turns on the taximeter when starting your route. If the driver says that the taximeter is out of order, take another taxi
